UNIT 1 HOSTS FIRE & POLICE APPRECIATION DINNER 2007
The Unit 1 Auxiliary hosted the annual
Fire & Police Appreciation Dinner, November 27, 2007, at Post No. 1. The
dinner is to recognize all of those who protect and serve the City of Minneapolis
and to show our appreciation for all that they do.
187 Police Officers representing all of
the precincts in the City of Minneapolis came to join in the festivities. A full course meal was served to each and every officer. A good time was had by all.
As it turns out, that Tuesday was a particularly
busy day for the Minneapolis Fire Department. Several fires companies were dealing
with simultaneous fires and the balance of the department was held in reserve to handle any additional emergencies. No firefighters were able to attend.
The Fire & Police Appreciation
Dinner has been held nearly annually since the early 1960s. This year was our
second event at The Eagles Club. We plan on hosting it annually from here on
out.
Auxiliary Secretary/Treasure Sharon Jeffers
personally delivered invitations to each Precinct and Fire Station in the City of Minneapolis. Sergeant-At-Arms, Becky Nelson was busy early organizing all parties-including preparing
the meal- on the day of the dinner. President Chickie Patterson presided over
this year’s event. By all measures the Fire & Police Appreciation Dinner
2007 was a rousing success. Nice job Unit 1!
