The monthly Omelet breakfast for November 2007 at Post No 1 fell on Veteran’s Days this year.
Veterans Day is an American holiday honoring military veterans.
Both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states, it is celebrated on the same day as Armistice Day or Rememberance
Day in other parts of the world, falling on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World
War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with
the German signing of the Armistice.)
This year SAL Squadron Commander Craig Maehling worked very hard to make this year’s Veteran’s Day special
by honoring the Blue Star Mothers. Each Blue Star Mother in attendance was given
a corsage and a complimentary Omelet Breakfast. The Blue Star Mothers are mothers
who now have, or have had, children honorably serving in the military. They are
a service organization supporting each other and their children while promoting patriotism.
